Plettenberg Bay – for a Memorable Long Weekend

Introduction:
Plettenberg Bay is a seaside paradise that beckons visitors with its spectacular natural beauty, diversified fauna, and a variety of exhilarating outdoor activities. It is located on South Africa’s beautiful Garden Route. Plettenberg Bay offers the ideal long weekend escape, whether you’re looking for tranquility on pristine blue flag beaches, exciting encounters with marine life, or indulging in exquisite cuisine. Join us as we travel virtually to discover the beauties of this captivating location.

Arrival and Beach Bliss on Day 1

The first thing to do in Plettenberg Bay after arriving is to laze around on its picture-perfect beaches and soak up the sun. Robberg Beach’s blue waves and the seclusion-abiding peacefulness. Walk to the beach in three minutes from Bayside and choose one of the local restaurants for some local hospitality and a great variety of reasonably priced food.  You can walk home safely at night in 12 minutes from Off the Hook or Surf Cafe and Sports Bar.

Day 2: Nature Trails and Wildlife Encounters

A trip to the adjacent Robberg Nature Reserve is a must-do for nature lovers since Plettenberg Bay is known for its richness. Set off on the three-hour Robberg Peninsula hike for stunning coastal vistas, interactions with seals, dolphins, and a variety of seabirds. Keep an eye out for the majestic southern right whales from July to December, while they are migrating. Visit Monkeyland and Birds of Eden, which are home to a wide variety of monkeys and bird species in a lush woodland setting, for a truly unique experience.  We can offer you maps and tips to enjoy the hike as well as discount vouchers for the sanctuaries. Finish off with a sunset dinner at Enricos on Keurbooms beach.

Day Three: Exciting Adventures

Plettenberg Bay provides a thrilling variety of excursions for thrill-seekers. Visit the Bloukrans Bridge, the world’s tallest commercial bungee jump, and bungee jump in the world, and take a leap of faith, embracing the adrenaline rush and panoramic views. Alternatively, embark on a thrilling canopy tour through the indigenous Tsitsikamma Forest, gliding along zip lines suspended high above the trees. If you prefer water-based excitement, book a marine safari to spot seals, dolphins, and even the elusive great white sharks.

Day 4: Suspension bridges and secret beaches

The suspension bridges at Storms River Mouth are also worth a visit and we always suggest a detour to Natures Valley for a swim in the lagoon or a walk on a very remote beach.  The hiking opportunities are also numerous in both locations so guests can get a feel for the epic 5 day Otter trail which gets booked up a year in advance.

Without indulging in some of the regional fare, no long weekend is complete, and Plettenberg Bay won’t let you down. Due to its coastal position, the town has a thriving cuisine culture that offers a combination of flavors.  Our guests love the Fat Fish, Barringtons, 1989, Sol Kitchen and Nguni.   Guests can also enjoy some local African food with some township atmosphere. Another popular option is to take one of our picnic baskets and stock up on tapas or sushi to enjoy on the beach or any of the above destinations.
